I visited Sivetz Coffee in Corvallis Oregon to look at their 1 pound coffee roaster. Originally these roasters had a thermocouple and a digital display with manual control of the heater. I was looking for something that had better control of the roast temperature like the 1/4 bag Sivetz roaster we use. They demonstrated the roaster and I talked to Mike Sivetz quite a bit about the roaster and how I wanted the controls to work. I ended up talking with him for more than three hours, I went home with a wiring diagram a box full of parts and a shiny new 1 pound Sivetz coffee roaster. I had to build the controller from parts I had and the wiring diagram and parts I got from Mike Sivetz  before I could use the roaster.

Roaster and cooler:

One very modified Sivetz 1 pound coffee roaster.
This 1 pound Sivetz roaster is the first one to have the heater control system installed on it.

Normally this roaster roasts 1 1/4 pounds of green coffee at a time resulting in about one pound of roasted coffee out per batch, taking between 6 and 10 minutes per roast.
This is all well and good when you have 240 volts as we did un till we moved into our new shop with 208 volts and discovered that I could not roast coffee with it at all, at 208 volts the inlet temperature was not high enough for the coffee to make second crack.
So I had to build a new heating element for it actually two, now I can get 1 or 2 pounds out per batch.
